- Nantou County is located in central Taiwan and is also located in the middle of the island. It is the only inland county in Taiwan. Aborigines in the county include the Atayal, Seediq, Bunun, Cou, and Thao. The Taiwan’s highest peak, Yushan, the Taiwan’s largest natural lake, Sun Moon Lake, the Taiwan’s longest river, Source of Zhuoshui Stream, and the geographic center of Taiwan are all located in Nantou County. Its special local products include green plum, banana, sugar cane, frozen top oolong tea, Shaoxing wine, bamboo crafts, Nantou pottery, and flowers.
